The Westmont Rugby Club of Santa Barbara, w/ 22 in their touring party, completed a 2-week tour of Australia on May 20th.    The club spent the first week in Brisbane area where we caught a Super 12 game and played a social side from the South's Club called the Lawlords.  The match was a good warm-up for the team, winning the match 26-7. On the Tuesday we traveled 6 hours out into the country and played a farm club called Moree where we lost a close one 17-15. This game & stay was one of the highlights of the trip as we were the first international side to come through town.  The game was a real physical encounter with both teams scoring 3 tries a piece with a final conversion kick deciding the game.  Unfortunately we timed the Sydney leg of our trip with some serious rainfall, but this is rugby right?  On Thursday night we played the Nelson Bay Gropers, winning the match 19-7. The rain was coming down sideways for most of the game but the forwards managed to hold onto the ball.   We were meant to play the Shamrocks Club from Wallina on last Sunday, but the game was cancelled due to flooding so we opted to spend the last weekend in Sydney. The guys enjoyed staying in Coogee beach experiencing the local scene and then catching an Aussie Rules game on the weekend.  Special thanks go to Peter Sertic @ Sorensen Travel for setting up the tour.
