The Club
Having a long and proud history of Rugby
in the Santa Barbara, California
area, Westmont re-emerged in 1993 after nearly
a twenty-year absence as a College Club, originally known as the
Lions. The club is a member of the United States Rugby
Football Union, competing in Collegiate Division II of the Southern
California Rugby Football Union,

The club’s league accomplishments include a final
four SCRFU appearance in 1998 and 1999. In 2000 the Warriors made
it to the Championship Match, finishing 2nd in Southern
California and 8th in the nation in Collegiate Division
II. In 2003 the club finished the league season with
a record of 6-2 but was ineligible for the post-season play due
to touring commitments. In 2004 the club finished the 2nd
place losing to Claremont Colleges in the Championship match.

Most importantly…the club has established a tradition
of touring abroad every two years.
Past tours include a 1997 tour of New
Zealand’s South
Island, South Africa
in 1999, New Zealand
in 2001, and Australia
